On the 5^th of January, 2012 there was an official meeting between the administration of SDU with Karaganda Bolashak University, Kazakhstan. The parties have agreed about an establishment of mutually advantageous cooperation since 2011-2012 academic years. Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the universities.

Both universities agree to develop the following collaborative activities in the academic areas of mutual interest, on the basis of equality and reciprocity:

• Encouraging academic exchange and cooperation between the universities.
• Joint research activities in areas of mutual interest.
• Inviting faculty members, research scholars and/or students for academic visit and exchange.
• Exchange of publication and other teaching materials.
• Co-sponsoring seminars, courses, workshops and other academic meetings on matters of mutual benefit.
• Assistance with developing relations and cooperation with industry and other institutes in each country.
• Developing joint dual degree programs at multiple levels. The details to be considered by both parties, with possible separate development and agreement, according to appropriate college and department requirements.

This MOU is intended to establish a basis upon which SDU and KBU may explore areas for cooperation.
